Arsenal handed massive quadruple injury boost ahead of pre-season US tour

The Gunners are going to be welcoming back several stars

Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their preperations for the new season as it has emerged that all of Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel Martinelli, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Mohamed Elneny will be fit enough to be taken on the pre-season tour of the USA.

All four first-team players missed the end of what turned into a disappointing season for the Gunners, after they threw away a lead at the top of the Premier League to finish a somewhat distant second to Manchester City come the final day.

Elneny suffered a knee injury during a training session, before Tomiyasu suffered a knee injury of his own in the Europa League last 16 defeat to Sporting CP, having to be taken off in the first half.

Meanwhile, Zinchenko and Martinelli both picked up injuries late on in the season, seeing them miss the final games of the campaign.

According to football.london, however, the quartet are ‘all set to be involved in Arsenal’s preseason campaign’, which sees them tour the USA before the return to competitive action with a Community Shield clash against Manchester City on August 6th.

They begin their preparations for the new campaign on July 13th with a game against Nurnberg, before facing the MLS all-stars, Manchester United and Barcelona all in the USA.

Despite his uncertain fitness, the defender has agreed a new four year deal with the club which is a massive boost to the Gunners, with the Frenchman down to the final two years on his current contract in north London.

Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are expected to have further reinforcements by the time that pre-season rolls around too, with Declan Rice their no.1 target and a deal expected to be concluded well before the end of the month, while they also hold an interest in Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
