A new role at Liverpool? Wales fans rave about Neco Williams following latest display

Supporters of the Welsh national team have flooded to social media this evening, to heap praise on Liverpool defender Neco Williams.

James decides it

Ryan Giggs’ men played out the last of their latest round of international fixtures a short time ago.

The Dragons welcomed the high-flying Czech Republic to Cardiff, for the country’s 2nd 2022 World Cup qualifier.

Wales got their campaign off to a bumpy start last week, en route to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Belgium. Giggs and co., though, did bounce back with a victory in a friendly meeting with Mexico at the weekend.

And tonight, the hosts made full use of their momentum, to eventually emerge on the right side of a 1-0 scoreline.

A hard fought affair in the Welsh capital first saw both sides reduced to 10 men, after Connor Roberts joined Patrik Schick in being sent for an early bath following a 2nd bookable offence with a little under a quarter of an hour remaining.

Just minutes later, though, the Dragons struck.

Manchester United’s Daniel James proved the hero, getting on the end of a fine Gareth Bale delivery from the left to nod home into the far corner, securing a potentially vital 3 points for Wales on their road to Qatar:

Wonderful Williams

As outlined above, however, whilst it was James who made the difference when it came to the final scoreline in Cardiff this evening, it was another of the home side’s stars who proved the centre of attention on social media.

The player in question? Neco Williams.

Liverpool starlet Williams, of course generally recognised for his exploits on the right, was utilised in a left wing-back position versus the Czech Republic.

And to say that he subsequently went on to prove the selection call of manager Giggs correct would be putting it lightly.

Williams put in a stellar performance down the left flank, surging forward with drive and quality, whilst defending with due diligence, too.

In turn, Wales’ fans have since moved to lavish praise on the Liverpool talent, who will no doubt have Jurgen Klopp considering the possibility of following Giggs’ lead when it comes to Williams’ positioning moving forward.
