Premier League giants Manchester United have, on Thursday, confirmed a fresh blow on the personnel front.
The Red Devils star set for a spell on the sidelines? Amad Diallo.
For those not aware, wide-man Amad set pulses racing across the United supporter-base two weeks ago.
This came upon the 21-year-old, fresh off a stellar loan stint with Sunderland in The Championship, limping out of his side’s friendly victory over Arsenal.
After being introduced as a 2nd-half substitute at MetLife Stadium, Amad soon went to ground, after appearing to twist his ankle in the turf.
Upon the Ivorian being spotted on crutches post-match, fears over a potentially lengthy spell on the sidelines, in turn, swiftly followed.
And though Amad himself moved to quell such concerns in assuring that he would be ‘back soon’, the former Atalanta talent is indeed primed for a spell out of action.
As per an official statement across Manchester United’s social media platforms on Thursday evening:
‘Manchester United winger Amad will miss the first part of the Premier League season.
‘The 21-year-old sustained a knee injury during the tour of the United States that is going to keep him out of action.’
Amad’s injury marks the 2nd costly blow of Manchester United’s pre-season tour, after fellow starlet Kobbie Mainoo was too ruled out of the early weeks of the coming campaign, owing to an ankle problem.
