England’s toughest test of World Cup qualifying but will they leave Warsaw with even more breathing space in Group I?

This month, the Euro 2020 runners-up faced two tough away games but won the first of those with a lot to spare last Thursday.

A flurry of second half goals from Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Harry Maguire and Declan Rice secured a 4-0 victory over Hungary at Puskás Aréna.

Then, Gareth Southgate made 11 changes for Sunday’s visit of Andorra but still saw his side enjoy another 4-0 win.

Jesse Lingard with a brace while Harry Kane converted a penalty and Bukayo Saka nodded in from close-range on his 20th birthday.

Kane has now scored in 14 consecutive European Qualifiers, last failing to do so four years and four days ago against Slovakia.

So, the Three Lions still have a 100% record in Group I and are five points clear at the top.

Their nearest challengers though are Poland.

They hammered Albania at home on matchday four before demolishing San Marino 7-1 in Serravalle on Sunday.

Adam Buksa with a hat-trick while Karol Świderski and Karol Linetty also scored.

Robert Lewandowski got the other two in San Marino, meaning he’s now scored 72 for his country, 46 of which have come in European Qualifiers.

Paulo Sousa’s side are unlikely to catch England in this group so need to ensure, at worst, they finish second.

This won’t be straight-forward though with Albania just one point behind and Hungary two points further back.

Who will win this high-quality encounter at Stadion Narodowy?
