David De Gea has enjoyed a career renaissance since joining Fiorentina as a free agent, and he will stay with the Serie A club until 2028 after signing a contract extension.
Fiorentina confirmed they had agreed an extension with the former Manchester United goalkeeper on Friday.
De Gea spent the entire 2023-24 season as a free agent before signing with Fiorentina last August.
He kept 11 clean sheets, all of which came in Serie A, in 42 appearances.
De Gea ranked seventh in Serie A for clean sheets this season, helping Fiorentina to a sixth-placed finish, securing another campaign of Conference League football.
Fiorentina also reached the semi-finals of this season’s Conference League, once again missing out on the trophy having lost the previous two finals.
De Gea was reported to have attracted interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Monaco.
However, he decided to remain in Florence to stay with La Viola, doing so despite the club sacking coach Raffaele Palladino just three weeks after signing him to a contract extension.
