Preview for Como v Inter Milan

Inter Milan are outsiders going into their two-way Serie A tussle with Napoli and will hope to beat Como tomorrow night to have any chance of retaining the Scudetto.

The Nerazzurri will make the short trip north a point behind leaders Napoli, who host Cagliari at the same time on the final weekend.

The odds are stacked in favour of Antonio Conte’s men, who have lost just twice on home soil this season.

The title will be decided either way over the next few days. Should the teams finish level on points then there would be a playoff on Monday night to determine who takes the trophy.

Inter would have wished for an easier final-day assignment than visiting Cesc Fabregas’ in-form team. Como had won seven league games on the trot prior to last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Verona and sit comfortably in mid-table.

They have nothing to play for but Fabregas insists that doesn’t not mean there will be a drop in intensity from his players.

The former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder said: β€œThey are the best team in Serie A and among the best in Europe. They are very strong, but we’ll try to cause problems for them. The goal is to always play at our best and do everything possible to try to win the match.”

Inter also have the Champions League final to come but Fabregas does not believe that will affect them tomorrow.

β€œI don’t think they’ll be affected by the Champions League Final, nor will they think about Napoli,” Fabregas added, before outlining his admiration for Inter boss Simone Inzaghi.

β€œThey are a strong side with one of the best coaches in Italy.”

Inzaghi has this week been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia at the end of the season. Al-Hilal are reported to have made Inzaghi their top target to succeed Jorge Jesus and want to have him in place before the Club World Cup in June.

Captain and star striker Lautaro Martinez remains a doubt for Inter while Benjamin Pavard could return to the starting XI.

Prediction for Como v Inter Milan

With the Champions League final next Saturday, Inter would ideally like to avoid a Scudetto playoff on Monday. But offer them that now and they would snap your hand off.

It seems unlikely Napoli will slip up against 14th-placed Cagliari but they wouldn’t be the first team to suffer final-day nerves.

Inter just have to do their bit and make sure they are in a position to capitalise should Conte’s men falter.

Prediction: Como 1-2 Inter Milan
