Parma have appointed Arsenal assistant Carlos Cuesta as their new coach.

Cuesta has worked under Mikel Arteta at Emirates Stadium since 2020.

But he has made the move to the Stadio Ennio Tardini, filling the void left by Cristian Chivu.

Chivu took charge of Inter Milan following Simone Inzaghi’s exit after their 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. Inzaghi left the Nerazzurri to become coach of Saudi side Al Hilal.

Cuesta has signed a contract until June 30, 2027, with an option for a further year.

Parma survived relegation in their first season back in Serie A following promotion in 2023-24.

They finished five points clear of the drop zone under Chivu, who replaced Fabio Pecchia in February.
