Liverpool have nothing to play for in their penultimate game of a Premier League title-winning season at Brighton and Hove Albion, but it’s a game that will likely live long in the memory of Dominik Szoboszlai.
Szoboszlai was involved in Liverpool’s opener in the ninth minute, his cross-field pass to Mohamed Salah turned into the path of Conor Bradley, who pulled it back from the byline for Harvey Elliott to convert.
Brighton deservedly levelled through Yasin Ayari in the 32nd minute, but on the stroke of half-time Szoboszlai scored one of the goals of the season for Liverpool, though it is debatable whether he meant it.
Following a free-kick routine with Elliott on the right flank, Szoboszlai whipped in what appeared to be a cross.

However, his delivery took Brighton goalkeeper Bert Verbruggen by a surprise and nestled just inside the left-hand post, restoring Liverpool’s lead in surprising but spectacular fashion.
It marked his sixth goal of an impressive first season with the Reds, though few will believe it was his intent to score from that situation.
