Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has penned a new three-year contract at the City Ground following an impressive campaign that saw the club return to European competition for the first time in nearly three decades.

Nuno initially took the reins in December 2023, succeeding Steve Cooper. He played a crucial role in steering Forest to safety, keeping them in the Premier League despite a four-point deduction for breaching profit and sustainability regulations.

They eventually finished 17th, securing survival on the final day of the 2023-24 season.

Just a year later, Forest stunned the league by mounting a genuine challenge for a Champions League spot. They spent much of the season in the top four before a late dip in form saw them win just two of their final seven matches, ultimately securing a Europa Conference League play-off place.

Under Nuno’s leadership, Forest also made a memorable run to the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1991, where they were eventually eliminated by Manchester City in a 2-0 defeat.

The Portuguese coach expressed his pride in continuing with the club, saying: “I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club. Since we arrived at Forest, we have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the club, which helped us achieve great things last season.”

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis praised Nuno’s impact and vision: “Nuno has made a great impact and performed very well during his time with us so far. He has demonstrated that he maximises player performance and is an expert at developing players, whilst also embedding our young talent into the first team set-up.

“We enjoy a strong and solid relationship together and, above all, we share the same dream and ambition of writing a new history for Nottingham Forest, competing in the Premier League and in Europe and winning trophies for our great club.”
