Everton have triggered the option to make midfielder Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move permanent.

The Toffees signed Alcaraz on loan from Brazilian side Flamengo in January.

That loan was due to conclude next month, but Everton have signed him on a deal until June 2027.

Alcaraz scored two goals and provided three assists in 15 Premier League appearances as Everton enjoyed a resurgence under David Moyes.

The 22-year-old, who has previously had spells with Juventus and Southampton, becomes Moyes’ first permanent signing since taking charge for a second time in January.

Everton are said to be paying a fee of around €15million (£12.6million) to sign Alcaraz, ensuring he will be part of their new era at the Hill-Dickinson Stadium after leaving Goodison Park.
