Chelsea have completed the signing of striker Liam Delap on a contract until 2031.
Delap moves to Stamford Bridge from Ipswich Town after Chelsea triggered his £30million release clause.
The former Manchester City striker scored 12 goals in the 2024-25 season following Ipswich’s promotion from the Championship.
His goals were not enough to prevent Ipswich making an immediate return to the second tier as they suffered relegation.
However, they did see Delap attract the attention of a host of suitors.
Newcastle United, Manchester United and Everton were all among those reported to have held talks with Delap over a transfer.
Delap, though, elected on a switch to west London, believing the Conference League winners can help him achieve his lofty ambitions.
“I understand the stature of this club and can see the trajectory it is on with these players and the head coach,” Delap told Chelsea’s official website.
“It’s going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here and help the club win more trophies.”
Chelsea will head to the Club World Cup later this month, and Delap could make his debut for the Blues when they face Los Angeles FC in their Group D opener on June 16.
