Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou was giving nothing away in regards to his future at the club after the Premier League season finale.
Spurs fell to their 22nd loss of the campaign at home to Brighton, losing 4-1 and officially becoming the side with the most defeats in a campaign to not be relegated.
The club’s dire form in the league has been covered over by their Europa League success, after beating Manchester United on Wednesday night.
But after another poor display on the pitch, there have been no guarantees that Postecoglou is safe from the sack.
It was expected that he would be dismissed at the end of the season, but his triumph in Europe could well have earned him another chance.
Speaking after the game, he said: “Yeah disappointing result, pretty fatigued second half. First half was okay. We controlled it pretty well, scored and should have had a second but fatigued second half and the game got away from us.
”This season was about taking an opportunity.”

“How do I assess our season? outstanding! Won a trophy which we haven’t for 17 years and we’re in the Champions League. Ask anyone supporter at start of the season if they’d take that and there wouldn’t be a person in the house that wouldn’t.
“It doesn’t bother me asking me about my future. I can’t answer. i’m pretty relaxed about it. it’s been an unbelievable season. I couldn’t be any prouder.
“Everyone in the media is intelligent enough to know I’m not the person to know to ask those questions. I’ll have a break and then hopefully we’ll be back first day next season to start things.
“My gut feeling is I feel right now that I’ve done something that no one believed I could, and I shouldn’t be sitting here talking about it (my future). That’s my feeling, but it is what it is.”
