Manchester United can move a step closer to salvaging something from a wretched season when they take on Athletic Bilbao this evening.

Both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim have failed to inspire United’s expensively assembled squad with the Red Devils currently sitting 15th in the Premier League and on a run of six games without a win.

Salvation has come in the shape of the Europa League with United in pole position to reach the final following their impressive 3-0 win in the first leg at San Mames last week.

Athletic, who go into the game without the Williams brothers, need an early goal and for the hosts to implode if they are to advance to a clash with either Bodo/Glimt or Tottenham.
