Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has signed a new four-year contract with the German club.
Kimmich, 30, had been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League when his previous deal expired this summer with both Arsenal and Liverpool keen on his services.
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain had also expressed interest as the versatile midfielder’s contract situation looked set to make him one of the summer’s sought-after signature.
But he has now ended that speculation by choosing to remain at the Allianz Arena until 2029.
The Germany international first joined the Bavarians from RB Leipzig in 2015 and has since won eight Bundesliga titles as well as the Champions League.
Kimmich said: “At FC Bayern I have the best environment to achieve my sporting goals. That is what my decision was based on.
“For me at the moment, there is no better package of team-mates, coaching staff and club environment in order to achieve maximum success. I feel at home here and I am not finished yet.”
Sporting director Christoph Freund added: “Everyone can see how passionate Joshua Kimmich is about the game and about his club, in every minute of the match.
He is a leadership figure who drives forward and gives impetus; an engine who will continue to tirelessly push FC Bayern forward in the future.”
