La Liga, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and Serie A were back at it again this past weekend as the top leagues on the continent once more left countless frothing at the mouth with a cadre of scintillating displays across Spain, Germany, France, and Italy.

Two mammoth results headlined the weekend, with Bayern Munich thrashing VfL Bochum 7-0 while Paris Saint-German put LOSC Lille in their place with a 7-1 belting. Barcelona won big at Real Sociedad, while other top performances across the quartet of leagues are reflected in this week’s Ligue 1-dominated European Team of the Week.

GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint-Germain)

Paris Saint-Germain may have won big at LOSC Lille on Sunday night but that did not stop Italian international Gianluigi Donnarumma from performing well. His eight saves speak to that.

RB: Paul Joly (AJ Auxerre)

AJ Auxerre earned their first win of the new Ligue 1 season away at Montpellier Hérault SC, with youngster Paul Joly putting in a defensive masterclass with 10 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 2 clearances while also completing 4 dribbles.

CB: Yeray Álvarez (Athletic Club)

Athletic Club earned their second clean sheet in as many matches to begin the 2022-23 La Liga campaign, and Yeray Álvarez was a rock at the back with 3 interceptions, 10 clearances, 3 blocks, and 5 aerial duels won.

CB: Evan Ndicka (Eintracht Frankfurt)

French center-back Evan Ndicka put in a standout performance for Eintracht Frankfurt after taking a credible point off 1.FC Köln, with 3 interceptions, 11 clearances, and 7 aerial duels won to highlight his evening on Sunday.

LB: Adrien Truffert (Stade Rennais)

An excellent all-around performance from Adrien Truffert helped Stade Rennais to a win at the weekend, with the left-back adding an assist to his 3 blocks, 3 clearances, 5 tackles, and 4 dribbles.

CM: Luka Modrić (Real Madrid)

Casemiro may have departed Real Madrid, but veteran Croatian star Luka Modrić can still do the business at his age, with a goal and assist to his name this weekend against RC Celta de Vigo.

CM: Piotr Zieliński (SSC Napoli)

The only Serie A player to feature this week, Polish international Piotr Zieliński picked up 2 assists against newly-promoted AC Monza and is already forming an understanding with summer signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

RW: Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich)

Bayern Munich was entirely dominant once more last weekend in the Bundesliga in a massive 7-0 win at VfL Bochum, with French international Kingsley Coman chipping in with a goal and 2 assists while also hitting the woodwork as well.

LW: Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain)

Another weekend, another sensational performance from Neymar in a PSG shirt this season, with the Brazilian star adding 2 goals and 3 assists in the demolition of LOSC Lille and him now sitting on 5 goals and 6 assists already this campaign.

CF: Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona)

Summer signing Robert Lewandowski finally opened his Barcelona account this season after last week’s frustrating draw against Rayo Vallecano, with a brace to his name this weekend.

CF: Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain)

French star Kylian Mbappé seemingly has temporarily put the tension aside at Paris Saint-Germain and bagged a hat-trick against Lille - including the fastest league goal in club history - for his efforts.
