Chelsea team news & predicted line-up vs Manchester City

Though Chelsea have picked up four points from a possible six since the restart, the Blues still sit outside of the top six and a whopping 18-points adrift of table-topping Arsenal coming into their vital home clash against Manchester City

The Premier League table is a tough read if you are in the Chelsea camp in 2022-23, with the Graham Potter reign at Stamford Bridge hardly offering evidence to suggest that the decision to part ways with Thomas Tuchel was the smart play by west London club.

Though Graham Potter had earned a bump from the south coast to the capital on merit after a fantastic spell with Brighton, the current Blues boss has struggled to get the right tune out of a number of players in the Chelsea camp, with the Premier League giants managing just 20 goals in 16 ties thus far, while Potter has also been made to deal with a wealth of injury concerns across the senior setup, which continues to include England star Reece James.

But the restart of the Premier League calendar has proven somewhat fortunate for the capital club on the back of four points secured from a possible six after a 2-0 win against Bournemouth but a frustrating 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest that stripped Chelsea of a chance to pull to within one point of the top six. Their clash against Manchester City tomorrow may – one way or another – confirm the course of the entire league campaign.

Predicted Chelsea XI

Chelsea Team News

  • Reece James, Wesley Fofana, N’Golo Kanté, Armando Broja, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Ben Chilwell (out)

Graham Potter will lament the continued absences of a number of key senior figures in the first team as the Blues have the tough ask of negotiating 90-minutes against a determined Manchester City.

England star Reece James is back on the treatment table and joins Ben Chilwell as the Blues are once again without their first-choice options at full-back. French duo Wesley Fofana and N’Golo Kanté are also out, while Armando Broja and Ruben Loftus-Cheek complete the casualty list.
