Man United’s Memphis Depay had the 2nd best free kick conversion rate in Europe last year [Squawka]

New data has been released by football data company Squawka looking into the best free-kick takers in Europe in 2014-15.

The data focused on the big leagues in Europe – Bundesliga, Eredivisie, La Liga, Ligue 1, Premier League and Serie A – while, in order to qualify for consideration, the a player must have taken at least 15 free-kicks last season.

Looking at the results, Man United fans will be encouraged to see that new signing Memphis Depay ranked second in the table.

Depay, who recently agreed to join United from PSV, had a 21.21% free-kick conversation rate, having scored 7 goals from 33 dead-ball attempts.

Austrian playmaker Zlatko Junuzovic, who plays for Werdr Bremen, topped the charts with a 22.73% conversion rate.

Elsewhere, Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen was the highest Premier League entry in the list in 5th, while the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Leo Messi all ranked rather low down in the table.
