SK Brann v Rangers: Line-ups, stats and preview

Preview for SK Brann v Rangers

Rangers will attempt to put the disastrous Russell Martin era behind them tomorrow night when they take on SK Brann.

Martin’s 123-day tenure ended earlier this month with the club in disarray and already well adrift of arch-rivals Celtic and surprise Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts.

After a protracted search, Danny Rohl was named Martin’s successor on Monday, tasked with improving their domestic form and also finding a way into the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Rangers are currently 32nd in the 36-team table after defeats to Genk and Sturm Graz and in need of a win to get their campaign back on track.

Rohl accepts there is little time for an acclimatisation process, he needs results quickly.

The German told the club’s official website: “Winning is the most important thing. We don’t have a lot of time, but I won’t use that as an excuse. We know where we are and which direction we want to go.

“We want to play attacking football and that means we have to press high and with intensity, we have to be connected in all parts of the game. We need to be good in transition moments in both directions and that means all of the players need to hunt the ball. We want to create a lot of chances and goals.

“Fans don’t want to see draws, or small wins, they want to see exciting wins and that’s what we will try to do. You will have different challenges, especially when you go away, there are different stadiums, but I think my group will handle these things. I am looking forward to it. We are a huge club who should control games.”

Rangers won’t find it easy in Bergen, however, against a Brann side that sit third in the Norwegian league.

Freyr Alexandersson’s men beat FC Utrecht in their last Europa League game, following on from a 2-1 defeat in Lille.
