Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka to receive League Cup winner’s medal
The status of Newcastle United star Martin Dubravka as a Carabao Cup winner has been confirmed late on Sunday evening.
The name of shot-stopper Dubravka, of course, had taken its place front and centre in the headlines in the buildup to today’s League Cup showpiece.
This came amid questions over the Slovakian international’s eligibility to take home a medal.
Dubravka, despite his presence as a current member of Newcastle’s squad, played his part in Manchester United reaching today’s Wembley finale.
This came owing to a pair of tournament appearances for the Red Devils, during a loan spell at Old Trafford over the first half of the campaign.
The 34-year-old, as a result, was not available for selection to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, despite the suspension-enforced absence of Nick Pope.
And, as since confirmed by a host of sources, the shot-stopper will indeed be honoured with as much, with no fewer than 30 afforded to the League Cup champions by the EFL.
Believe it or not, Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka will actually get a winner’s medal. #MUFC can hand out 30. He played in Manchester United’s wins over Villa and Burnley. pic.twitter.com/Fg9zoFUMtv
