West Ham beat Brighton and more to €45m signing

Premier League outfit West Ham United have, on Sunday, announced the latest high-profile addition to the club’s first-team squad.

The player in question? Mohammed Kudus.

The name of Ghanaian international Kudus, of course, has long taken its place front and centre in the headlines in the English media.

This comes after word was forthcoming that a whole host of Premier League clubs had set their sights firmly on the signature of the gifted Ajax star.

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion were all tipped as potential destinations for Kudus, with a view to the season ahead.

In the end, though, it was West Ham who stepped up to the plate, confirming their intention to meet the considerable demands of their Ajax counterparts.

And, as alluded to above, late on Sunday, precisely that has been confirmed.

As per an official announcement across the club’s website and social media platforms:

‘West Ham United are delighted to announce the signing of Mohammed Kudus.

‘The Hammers fought off intense competition from some of Europe’s leading clubs to secure the services of the exciting Ghana international attacker from Ajax.’

Kudus’ signature is understood to have set the West Ham brass back a sum in the region of €45 million, with the 23-year-old having put pen to paper on a contract in east London through the summer of 2028.

He joins James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez as summer additions to David Moyes’ squad.
