Michael Carrick admitted he was hurt by boos from sections of the Manchester United supporters after slipping to a late 1-1 draw at home to winless Tottenham.
Dominic Solanke’s late header cancelled out Bryan Mbeumo’s finish at Old Trafford in a game where the visitors enjoyed many of the better chances, with some supporters making their feelings known at half-time and full-time with audible boos.
“It’s not nice,” Carrick told Sky Sports.
“It hurts a lot because I care about this club. But I understand the disappointment, the reality is what it is, we need to get back to winning games.”
Carrick admitted United were poor in the first half but felt they grew into the game and acknowledged that late goals are affecting them significantly.
“It was a mixed game. We found it tough to start with. For a number of reasons, we were not quite there. You could see it was a challenging time.
“But the lads grew into the game, in the second half I thought we were better in everything. To get the game as we wanted it, in such a good position – we should see it through.
“We have to manage those situations. That’s two late goals which have hurt us, and things look very different. That’s the reality.
“I don’t think it is lack of confidence, but a game can get away from you very quickly. We found a way right back into the game, and got ourselves in a great position – that is one of the most disappointing things.”

Mbeumo: First half wasn’t us
Goalscorer Mbeumo said United’s first half was not up to scratch but was keen to take the positives from the draw.
He added: “We took time to get into the game, but we played well in the second half. In the first half, that wasn’t us, we had to change. We tried to get at them.
“We know Spurs have good players who can be dangerous. It’s a bit disappointing, we need to work on things.
“We need to keep going forward, as we have a lot of games.”
