Barcelona tipped to launch surprise summer swoop for Liverpool midfielder
Spanish giants Barcelona have, on Friday, been tipped to sanction what would come as a shock move for a member of the midfield setup at Liverpool.
The player in question? Thiago Alcantara.
Spanish international Thiago, of course, is a one-time member of the engine room ranks at the Camp Nou.
And, since seeing his departure sanctioned back in the summer of 2013, the 31-year-old has gone on to enjoy widespread success.
Despite a swathe of injury problems, across stints with Bayern Munich and Liverpool, Thiago has racked up seven league titles, a Champions League, as well as a whole host of domestic cup titles.
His recent fitness-enforced absence at Anfield, meanwhile, has been sorely felt by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
As per a report from Spanish outlet Diario AS, Barcelona are giving serious consideration to tabling an offer for the club’s one-time academy sensation come the summer.
Thiago is understood to be one of a number of deep-lying engine midfield stars on the radar of the Blaugrana, amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of Sergio Busquets.
