West Ham are set to appoint Scott Parker as their new manager following this morning’s sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo.
Former Hammers midfielder Parker is available after leaving Burnley at the end of last season and has a proven track record of leading teams to promotion from the Championship, achieving the feat three times.
And, according to the Athletic, he will succeed Nuno, who was dismissed with West Ham eighth in the table and having suffered successive home defeats to promotion rivals Southampton and West Brom.
Nuno took over at the London Stadium from Graham Potter in September 2025 and was tasked with steering the club away from the Premier League relegation zone. Results did improve slightly but they still went down on the final day after losing what was in-effect a two-club shoot-out with Tottenham.
A club statement read: “West Ham United can confirm that men’s first-team head coach Nuno Espírito Santo has left his position with immediate effect.
“Following a thorough review of the start to the EFL Championship season, the board of directors believe that a change is necessary at this time in order to ensure that the club’s objectives and expectations remain on track.
“Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also departed.
“West Ham United would like to thank Nuno, Rui and Rui for their hard work and commitment during their time at the club, and wish them all the very best for the future.
“The process of recruiting a new head coach is already underway.
“Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will take temporary charge of squad preparations ahead of tomorrow evening’s EFL Championship fixture at Cardiff City, and the club will make no further comment until the appointment of the new head coach is confirmed.”
It is hoped Parker, 46, will be in place for the trip to Cardiff and it is expected Noble will form part of his backroom staff.
