Exiled Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo will travel to Newcastle on Monday to complete a £55 million move and become Matthias Jaissle’s third signing since being appointed on August 5, according to a report.
Newcastle are discussing “final details” and have “hope and belief” that the 21-year-old Belgium international, who made three substitute appearances during the World Cup group stage, will join them, Sky Sports has said.
Fernandez-Pardo has been excluded by Dogues head coach Davide Ancelotti until the end of the transfer window after long-term speculation linking the 21-year-old with a move to numerous clubs including the Magpies and Arsenal.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo: Newcastle near transfer
Gent youth product Fernandez-Pardo was Lille’s joint-top scorer in Ligue 1 last season, netting eight times as his side finished third.
Ancelotti’s side have four points from their first two matches after Paris Saint-Germain scored twice during second-half added time to rescue an away point against them on Friday.
Newcastle drew their opening match of the season 2-2 at home to Liverpool in Jaissle’s first competitive match in charge, then beat second-tier West Bromwich Albion 3-2 at St James’ Park in the EFL Cup and won 2-0 at Tottenham in the top flight on Saturday.

Can Premier League clubs sign players outside of the window?
Clubs can only add players outside of transfer windows who are free agents and if they have room in their 25-man squad.
Premier League teams can still announce deals with other clubs, but those players will not be registered to play until the window re-opens.
This means there is usually little to no movement when the window closes, with four months to wait until the window re-opens.
Players can be released by Premier League clubs at any time, but the usual rule is that they cannot sign for another side outside of the market.
