Tottenham close in on Savinho after agreeing £85m fee with Manchester City

Tottenham are closing in on the signing of winger Savinho from Manchester City for a fee that could rise to £85million.

The 22-year-old has spent two years at City after joining from Troyes – part of the City Football Group of clubs – for £31m but failed to hold down a regular first-team place, making just seven Premier League starts under Pep Guardiola last season.

In total, he made 53 league appearances for City, scoring twice and adding nine assists.

Spurs have been chasing his signature for some time and, although a possible move broke down last summer, they have successfully negotiated a deal this time round.

Of the £85m, £75m is up front with another £10m in add-ons, £5m of which are thought to be highly attainable.

It could represent a record sale for City, eclipsing the £82m they received from Atletico Madrid for Julian Alvarez in 2024.

Savinho could be joined in North London by City team-mate Omar Marmoush with Spurs also pursuing the Egypt international.

Tottenham have been among the biggest spenders in the Premier League this summer, signing Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke as well as recruiting free transfers Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi.

They have, however, balanced the books to a degree by selling Luka Vuskovic, Cristian Romero and Djed Spence.
