Match Preview for Al-Fayha v Al-Nassr
Inigo Martinez is hoping Al-Nassr’s defensive solidity will help power the club to the Pro League title.
Al-Nassr won 5-0 at Al-Najmah on Wednesday night, keeping their fifth successive clean sheet in the league in the process.
Former Barcelona defender Martinez also scored twice to cap a personally satisfying night but he knows his job is to keep the ball out and enable the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Joao Felix to do the damage at the other end.
He told the Pro League’s official website: “We know that, if we keep a clean sheet, we generate a lot of chances, and we always score one or two goals. This is the path we have to follow. We have to continue with this ambition, with this enthusiasm, and we hope to give more joy to the fans.”
Al-Nassr went top of the table with the win but were overtaken last night by Al-Ahli following their 1-0 win at Al-Riyadh.
“There’s still a long way to go, and we have to keep our feet on the ground and know that, without work, there are no victories or titles,” added Martinez.
“So we’ll keep fighting until the end, and always with the same joy and the same enthusiasm since we started the league.”
A trip to mid-table Al-Fayha should hold no fears, although the hosts have bounced back recently from a bad spell with four wins from seven games.
Team News for Al-Fayha v Al-Nassr
Al-Fayha have no fresh injury worries and boss Pedro Emanuel is likely to stick with the same XI that drew with Neom in midweek.
Ronaldo played for just 56 minutes against Al-Najmah before being rested with the game already won. The Portuguese superstar will start in this one and likely come up against another former Manchester United man in Chris Smalling.
