Chelsea v Everton: Confirmed line-ups as Cole Palmer restored to starting XI

It’s been a disappointing couple of weeks for Chelsea and boss Enzo Maresca will be hoping his side can see off Everton this afternoon to ease the pressure.

The London club have not won since their rousing 3-0 thrashing of Barcelona on November 25, drawing with Arsenal and Bournemouth and losing to Leeds and Atalanta.

There is not any immediate threat of Maresca losing his job but it seems unlikely the Chelsea owners will afford him too much time to get their season back on track.

They start the weekend in fifth place but will be overtaken by Everton if the Toffees triumph at Stamford Bridge.

David Moyes’ side have won four of their last five in the league and will head into the contest brimming with confidence following the comprehensive 3-0 defeat of Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been instrumental in Everton’s recent good form and he will be relishing the chance to face his former club.

  • Everton have won four of their last five Premier League games, keeping a clean sheet in each victory. Since David Moyes’ first game of his second spell on January 15 this year, only Manchester City (13), Arsenal (13) and Chelsea (11) have more Premier League victories without conceding than Everton (10).
  • Chelsea have dropped more points from winning positions in Premier League home games than any other side this season (8), drawing 1-1 with Arsenal having scored first last time out. It’s already one more point than they dropped at home from winning positions in the entirety of last season (7).
