Barcelona 3-1 Alaves: Lamine Yamal on target as Catalan club come from behind to move top of LaLiga

Lamine Yamal scored his first goal back at the Camp Nou as Barcelona came from behind to beat Alaves and move top of LaLiga on goal difference.

The 18-year-old netted an eighth-minute equaliser after Pablo Ibanez had stunned the hosts with a goal inside the first minute of the match.

Dani Olmo gave Barca the lead midway through the first-half before adding a second late on as Hansi Flick’s side moved to the summit of the Spanish top-flight, two points clear of rivals Real Madrid, who could leapfrog them with a win over Girona on Sunday.

Barcelona were hoping to bounce back after a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday.

But for Flick’s men, the start could hardly have been more disastrous, conceding after inside the first minute when Pablo Ibanez tapped home from close range for the visitors following a corner.

The lead, however, lasted little over seven minutes. Pouncing on a loose ball across the Alavez box, Yamal lashed an effort high into the net from just a few yards out to get the hosts back on level terms and bag his first goal back at the Camp Nou.

Alaves then had a chance to restore the lead but moments later, then found themselves behind when Olmo netted with a neat left-footed finish after 26 minutes.

And that’s how the scoreline stayed for more than hour until Olmo made the points safe deep into second-half stoppage time.

It was a result that perhaps flattered Barca, who endured a difficult afternoon against their spirited visitors, who remain in 14th spot in the table.
