Arsenal vs Tottenham: Trossard, Eze score as Neville says ‘game over’ for Spurs
Leandro Trossard and Eberechi Eze scored for Arsenal vs Spurs
Gary Neville accused Tottenham of lacking “courage” as Thomas Frank’s side fell 2-0 behind to goals in quick succession at Premier League leaders Arsenal on Sunday.
Leandro Trossard scored in the North London derby for the second consecutive season in the 36th minute before Eberechi Eze fired in five minutes later as part of a dominant display by the hosts, who knew victory would send them six points clear of Chelsea at the top of the table.

“It’s mayhem,” former Manchester United captain Gary Neville told Sky Sports after Eze, who turned Spurs down to join Arsenal in August, struck from Declan Rice’s pass.
“North London delight for Arsenal. I’m happy for them – they deserve it. And so do Tottenham for what they’ve done… those white shirts are like mannequins.”

Arsenal vs Tottenham: Trossard, Eze goals
Belgium international Trossard’s clever run and touch allowed the forward to collect Mikel Merino’s scooped pass inside the box and send in a low shot on the turn, beating goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario via a touch from Micky van de Ven.
Eze then became the first English player to score in the derby on their debut since 1991, with Spurs failing to have an attempt before the break.
“To me, that’s game over unless Thomas Frank does something remarkable,” Neville said after the England international’s goal, describing Arsenal as “by far the better team”.
“Spurs have to have some courage on the ball. They’ve shown nothing… it’s been basic. Spurs have not had one single shot and that is unacceptable.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said centre-back Gabriel is out “for weeks” after suffering a thigh injury while playing for Brazil in a friendly against Senegal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, while full-back Riccardo Calafiori missed both of Italy’s games during the international break with a hip issue.
“We need another scan next Wednesday,” Arteta said of Gabriel. “Then we’ll have the timeline probably much clearer than it is at the moment.
“It’s clearly a blow because he’s our leader in our backline. It’s never a positive thing. The good thing is that we have very good options and we need to stand up now and do the job.”
Piero Hincapie made his full debut at centre-back, while forwards Gabriel Martinelli and Noni Madueke could make their comebacks from the bench.
Midfielder Mikel Merino started in attack, with Bukayo Saka captain. Viktor Gyokeres (hamstring) and Kai Havertz (knee) were absent, with fellow forward Gabriel Jesus back in training but not yet in contention after 11 months out with a knee injury.
“He’s been doing everything with the team for almost two weeks,” Arteta said, discussing Gabriel Jesus.
“We’re going to give him some exposure as well, internally, with some games so he gets that fitness. But he looks really good in training and he’s going to be a big addition.”
Midfielder Martin Odegaard also has a knee problem. “We’ve put in a lot of energy during the international break, with all the medical staff, to try to bring [players back] as quickly as possible,” added Arteta.
Arsenal starting XI: David Raya, Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Piero Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori, Eberechi Eze, Martín Zubimendi, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Mikel Merino, Leandro Trossard
Arsenal substitutes: Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cristhian Mosquera, Ben White, Gabriel Martinelli, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Max Dowman
Tottenham team vs Arsenal
Midfielder Mate Sarr Pape Sarr was on the bench for Spurs after missing Senegal’s subsequent game against Kenya, joined by Lucas Bergvall, who had been out with a head injury.
Randal Kolo Muani will play in a mask because of a jaw injury if the forward features as a substitute .
Defender Ben Davies was recovering from a hamstring problem but winger Mohammed Kudus returned, having missed two games with a knock.
Centre-back or right-back Radu Dragusin had returned to training following a knee injury and was not involved. Dominic Solanke was not yet ready for a comeback from the striker’s ankle injury.
“We are very aware that when we put him out there, we want to be absolutely sure – as sure as we can be – that there is no setback going forward,” manager Thomas Frank said of Solanke.
“I’m confident he will soon be ready, but I will not put a time frame on it.”
Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison (both knee) and Yves Bissouma (ankle) were out, as were Archie Gray (calf) and Kota Takai (quad).
“[Dragusin has] probably been at it for a couple of weeks now – full training, full in, everything,” said Frank.
“He’s definitely getting very close to being able to be selected, it’s just a matter of performance and probably just a few more game minutes to be fully available.
“Kota and Ben both trained with the team [on Friday for the] first time, so that’s positive.”
Tottenham starting XI: Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso, Djed Spence, Joao Palhinha, Rodrigo Bentancur, Destiny Udogie, Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert
Tottenham substitutes: Antonin Kinsky, Xavi Simons, Mathys Tel, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Brennan Johnson, Pedro Porro, Pape Matar Sarr, Randal Kolo Muani
