Roberto Mancini back in management with Qatari side Al Sadd
Roberto Mancini has returned to management, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal to take charge at Qatari side Al Sadd, his first club job since 2018.
Former Manchester City, Inter Milan and Italy boss Roberto Mancini is back in management with Qatari side Al Sadd.
Mancini had been out of work since leaving his post as Saudi Arabia boss in October, 2024, though he was involved with former club Sampdoria in a consultancy capacity last season.
Al Sadd confirmed on Thursday that Mancini had signed a two-and-a-half year contract to take charge.
It is his first club job since 2018, when his spell with Zenit St. Petersburg came to an end.
Mancini takes over from Felix Sanchez, who led Al Sadd to the Qatar Stars League title last season but was relieved of his duties last month.
Al Sadd are eight points behind leaders Al Gharafa in the Stars League, while they have yet to claim a win in the AFC Champions League, taking two points from four games, leaving them 10th in Group B, two points adrift of the eighth and final qualification spot.
Mancini’s first game in charge will come on Sunday against Al Ahli.
