‘They just cannot defend corners’: West Ham woes worsen as poor defending allows Leeds to go 2-0 up inside 15 minutes at Elland Road
West Ham have not won a game since August
Struggling West Ham made the worst possible start to their away game at Leeds as some slack defending allowed the hosts to go 2-0 up inside 15 minutes.
The Hammers, who have lost seven of their nine league games, knew they were in desperate need of a positive start but their struggles were laid bare for everyone to see inside just three minutes.
Ethan Ampadu drove the ball forward for the hosts before a ball found its way into the box which was met by a free header for Noah Okafor, with Brenden Aaronson reacting quickest than the static West Ham defenders to slot home.
The visitors, who are only three games into the Nuno Espirito Santo reign, continued to look lethargic as promoted Leeds continued to dictate play.
And barely 10 minutes, Nuno’s problems worsened as they conceded from yet another corner.
Joe Rodon was the man who was able to nestle a header into the back of the net despite being surrounded by a number of claret and blue shirts.
Defeat this evening will leave West Ham in 19th with only four points from nine games this season.
