Leeds vs Tottenham: Kudus reveals change to ‘brutally honest’ Frank from Postecoglou

Mohammed Kudus has called Tottenham manager Thomas Frank a “very open” and “great guy” after the Ghana winger scored the winner in his side’s 2-1 victory at Leeds United in the Premier League.

Spurs finished 17th and had the fifth-worst defensive record in the top flight in Ange Postecoglou’s final season in charge in 2024/25, but new boss Frank has guided his team to a guaranteed top-four position during the international break and the third-best defensive record in the division.

“Comparing to past seasons, we’ve conceded fewer goals in the league,” said Kudus, a £55 million signing from West Ham in July, speaking to Premier League Productions.

“It’s something we are really, really trying to work on – sticking to our positions and keeping clean sheets, [because] we’re definitely going to score.

“His experience of developing young talent is great, but what I admire more from him is on a human level.”

Kudus: Tottenham manager Frank ‘honest’

Kudus capitalised on Gabriel Gudmundsson’s slip to surge inside from the right, approach the penalty area and fire emphatically in to ensure Spurs ended a run of two successive top-flight draws by prevailing at Elland Road, where Leeds had been unbeaten in 2025/26.

“All players can speak to him any time – knock on his door and talk about anything, aside from just football,” the 25-year-old elaborated on Frank.

“That’s very important. Aside from being a great coach, you can really speak to him about anything and he’ll give you his best advice.

“He’s brutally honest and very open with every decision he makes. You might not be happy about every decision but he does it for the best of the team.

“He’s a great guy and we learn a lot from paying under him.”

Joe Rodon headed against a post from Sean Longstaff’s free-kick as part of a bright start by Leeds, who fell behind when Mathys Tel collected Kudus’s pass inside the box on the right and blasted in the 23rd-minute opener via a defection off marker Pascal Struijk for his first goal of the season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin fired a presentable chance over before linking neatly in the build-up to Leeds’ equaliser with Brenden Aaronson, allowing the USMNT international to angle in a shot that Guglielmo Vicario could only push to the feet of Noah Okafor, who slotted in 11 minutes before half-time.

Kudus’s superb goal means Tottenham are unbeaten away in all competitions in 2025/26, taking 10 points from a possible 12 on the road in the league.
