‘It’s a crazy world’ says Amorim as United confirm minute’s silence

Manchester United will hold a minute’s silence before Saturday’s game against Sunderland at Old Trafford in tribute to the victims of Thursday’s attack at a synagogue in the city.

Two men were killed after Jihad Al-Shamie rammed a car into people before stabbing others.

United’s players will also wear black armbands as a mark of respect to the two men who died in the attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall.

Three people remain in hospital with serious injuries after the attack.

United manager Ruben Amorim said: “It’s a crazy world that we are living in the moment, a lot of these things are happening.

“Of course, our sympathy is for the victims and we will pay tribute tomorrow. But it is a crazy world in this moment.”

‘We are not losing because of the system’

United’s poor start to the season sees them head into the weekend in 14th place.

Amorim is welded to a 3-4-3 formation that has rarely looked like working since he arrived from Sporting Lisbon last year, but the manager says the formation is not the problem.

“The way we create goals and chances is nothing to do with the system,” he said.

“I am not saying they will play better in a different system. We aren’t losing because of the system.

“Our maximum effort in little things is not the same in every match. We have to find that balance. It will change everything.

“Criticism is normal and you cannot run away from the results. Last season does not matter. We have had six games this season and we lost three.”
