Nuno set to take over at West Ham following Potter sacking

Nuno Espirito Santo is set to replace Graham Potter as the head coach of West Ham, according to multiple reports.

Potter left West Ham on Saturday following a miserable start to the new season, which has seen them claim just one win from five Premier League games.

And the Hammers have moved swiftly to bring in Nuno, who has reportedly agreed to terms with the East London club.

Nuno left Nottingham Forest this month following a breakdown in his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis and global head of football Edu.

Nuno tasked with West Ham turnaround

But the Portuguese will be expected to produce an upturn in fortunes at West Ham, after leading Forest to a seventh-placed finish last season, one in which they were in contention for Champions League qualification right up until the final day.

West Ham made the decision to bring Potter’s tenure to an end after just 261 days at the helm for the former Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion boss.

He won just six of his 25 games in charge, his last victory coming at Nuno’s Nottingham Forest last month.

A club statement read: “West Ham United can confirm that Head Coach Graham Potter has left the Club.

“Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025-26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.

“The Club can confirm that Assistant Coach Bruno Saltor, First Team Coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, Lead Goalkeeper Coach Casper Ankergren, and Goalkeeper Coach Linus Kandolin have also left with immediate effect.

“The Board would like to thank Graham and his coaching staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future.

“The process of appointing a replacement is underway. The Club will be making no further comment at this time.”

If his appointment is confirmed before Monday, Nuno could be in charge for Monday’s Premier League clash with Everton on Merseyside.
