Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen agrees new contract with club

Wolves have secured the future of striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, who has signed a new contract keeping him at Molineux until 2030, with the option of a further year.

The extension comes just months after the Norway international made his move permanent from Celta Vigo, following a productive loan spell in which he scored 14 goals.

His form was enough to attract significant interest in the summer, with Wolves rejecting bids of £50m and £55m from Newcastle United.

Manager Vítor Pereira hailed the news as a major boost for the club.

“It’s very important – if we want to increase our level, if we want to give others a step to another level, we need this kind of player.

“He’s not just tactical and technical, he’s about spirit and personality. He is very important for us and it’s very good news for us.”

Wolves paid £23m to sign the forward outright after his loan success, which helped the team narrowly avoid relegation by finishing 16th in last season’s Premier League campaign.

Although he has yet to feature in the league this term due to an Achilles problem, the 25-year-old did score twice in the EFL Cup victory over West Ham before being sidelined.

His return is eagerly awaited as Wolves, still winless and bottom of the table after four straight defeats, prepare to face Leeds at Molineux this weekend.

Strand Larsen’s commitment comes on the back of Pereira also penning a new three-year deal on Thursday.

The striker had been in talks with the club since the summer, and his manager believes the agreement comes at the perfect moment.

“Football is not about assurance, it is about trust, hard work, day by day. It’s about work, character and commitment.

“If you are here and see the work every day, you can value the work of someone.”
