AC Milan complete signing of Madrid legend Modric
AC Milan have officially made Luka Modric their second signing of the transfer window.
AC Milan have completed the signing of former Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric.
The Croatia international has joined as a free agent after his decorated spell with Madrid came to an end following the Club World Cup.
He has signed a one-year contract with the Rossoneri, which includes an option for an extension until the end of the 2026-27 season.
Modric did not win a major trophy in his final season with Los Blancos, one which saw him make just 27 starts in all competitions as the 39-year-old took on more of a supporting role in the Madrid midfield.
He made six substitute appearances off the bench at the Club World Cup, his final game coming in the 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals. Modric ended his career with Madrid having won 28 trophies in his time with the club, including six Champions League crowns and four LaLiga titles.

Milan are a long way for challenging for such illustrious glories. They finished eighth in Serie A in 2024-25 and lost the Coppa Italia final to Bologna, ensuring they missed out on European football.
Modric marks Milan’s second arrival of the transfer window, following Samuele Ricci through the door after the defensive midfielder joined from Torino.
They are also reported to be leading the race to sign Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus as the Rossoneri target an upturn in fortunes in Massimiliano Allegri’s second spell as coach. Allegri returned to replace Sergio Conceicao in May.
In his first message to the Milan supporters in an Instagram post, Modric said: “Ciao everybody, I just landed in Milan, very happy to be here, to start a new chapter in my career. A big hug to everyone.”
Modric will wear the number 14 shirt for Milan.
