Caitlin Clark: Stephanie White gives injury update after Indiana Fever vs Connecticut Sun

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White has said Caitlin Clark aggravated her right groin during an eventful display against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday.

Two-time WNBA All Star Clark went 1-for-7 from 3-point range and 4-for-14 overall as the Fever beat the Sun 85-77 in Boston, leaving the court in tears because of a physical issue with two minutes remaining.

“She just felt a little something in her groin, so we’ll get it evaluated,” Winter said of the talismanic 6ft point guard.

“There’s a level of physicality that [teams are] able to play with against her. I see it. I’m not exactly sure why, but it is what it is.”

Fever vs Sun: Caitlin Clark ‘very upset’

Clark seemed furious at official Mike Price during the third quarter, appearing to swear and attempt to beckon him towards her.

“That’s just rude,” Clark appeared to tell Price on ESPN’s live broadcast. “Grow up. Come here, come here. Unbelievable.”

“She’s still upset and wants an explanation,” ESPN’s commentator said. “I don’t want to speculate but she’s very upset.”

White suggested Indiana must “find some ways to make it a little bit easier” for the 23-year-old. “The overall level of physicality in our league has been at a different level than it’s been for a long time,” she added.

Caitlin Clark WNBA injuries

Indiana captain Clark’s previous injury was to her left groin, with a left quad injury also keeping contributing to a total of 10 absences this season.

The Fever face the New York Liberty on Wednesday in Brooklyn, while Clark is scheduled to take part in the 3-point shooting contest for the All-Star Game on Friday.

“I don’t have much off-time,” Clark said before the game. “Our schedule is pretty intense right before All-Star break and coaches just to challenge us to approach it one game and practice at a time.

“I just take as much time as I can to take a deep breath and have a second to myself… even if it’s 15-to-30 minutes, that mental reset is really important.”
