PSG embarass Real Madrid by scoring three goals in 24 minutes during Club World Cup semi-final

Paris Saint-Germain are proving exactly why they are European champions after scoring three goals inside the opening 30 minutes against Real Madrid in the Club World Cup.

The two heavyweights, meeting in the semi-final of the tournament – with the winner playing Chelsea – could not cope with the French side from the very off.

Fabian Ruiz was the star of the show, scoring twice in a commanding midfield performance in the first half.

He opened the scoring just six minutes in, tucking home a left-footed strike from the centre of the box after being teed up by Ousmane Dembele after some poor defending from Raul Asensio.

The Spanish midfielder then added a second in the 23rd minute, this time finishing low into the bottom corner after excellent build-up play from Achraf Hakimi.

In between Ruiz’s goals, Dembele got on the scoresheet himself. The winger doubled PSG’s lead in the 9th minute with a tidy left-footed finish after breaking the Madrid line and racing in behind.

Real Madrid struggled to cope with PSG’s intensity and movement in the opening 30 minutes.

Kylian Mbappe, returning against Paris in Madrid colours, saw two early efforts blocked and another saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma, but the visitors lacked sharpness in the final third.

Hakimi, Joao Neves and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia all had opportunities as PSG pressed high and swarmed the Madrid midfield, while Nuno Mendes and Desire Doue provided relentless energy down the flanks.
