Kevin Durant: PSG ‘to sell stake’ to NBA icon and Summer Olympics 2024 champ

Two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant is on the verge of buying a minority stake in Paris St-Germain, according to a report.

Phoenix Suns forward Durant will become the second minority shareholder in PSG in under a year following American investment fund Arctos Partners’ purchase of a 12.5% stake in December 2023, RMC Sport has said.

Durant helped Team USA beat France 98-87 to win the Summer Olympics 2024 men’s basketball tournament in Paris on Saturday.

PSG owners Qatar Sports Investments became the sole shareholders of the dominant club in France when they bought out Colony Capital and Butler Capital Partners in 2012.

Runners-up in the 2019-20 Uefa Champions League, PSG have won French top flight Ligue 1 in nine of the last 11 campaigns.

Durant PSG investment

Durant was filmed visiting PSG’s training facilities before the USA’s quarter-final against Brazil at the Games, meeting club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, manager Luis Enrique and his players, the club’s women’s team and being presented with a shirt.

When he was reminded of his visit to Paris’ Parc des Princes home in 2015, Durant said the city’s “history” and “love” for basketball and art are what make the capital special to him.

“I get so much love every time I come here,” he added. “They appreciate the sport and it’s just a beautiful city to be in, overall.

“This is the best practice facility in the world. It’s beautiful. This is lovely. I’m grateful to be here. Thank you so much for the opportunity.”

Kevin Durant salary

Durant’s reported salary puts the 14-time All Star in a strong position to invest in one of the wealthiest football clubs in the world.

The 36-year-old will earn a guaranteed salary of more than $49.8m which could rise to around $51.2m in 2024-25, according to Spotrac.

His career earnings, including his time at former teams the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Seattle SuperSonics and Oklahoma City Thunder, are said to be almost $397m.
