‘Season 3 is better than season 2’ – Postecoglou drops huge Tottenham future hint at Europa League celebration parade

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has suggested he will stay on as head coach for a third season after winning the Europa League.

The Australian led Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years and first European honour in 41 years by beating Manchester United in Biblao on Wednesday night.

In the build-up to the final, Postecoglou had come under fire and was facing serious pressure over his job.

Had he lost in the week, it is almost certain he would have faced the sack after guiding Spurs to their worst Premier League finish ever.

But after pulling off a magical night in Spain, tensions around the former Celtic manager have eased and he was received with cheers and classic songs from the club faithful during the victory parade in North London on Friday evening.

Towards the end of the event, Postecoglou took the microphone and addressed the fans, giving them an idea as to whether he would decide to walk away from his job.

He said: “I told them and they laughed. I told them and they didn’t believe. But here we are. I’ll leave you with this. All the best television series… Season 3 is better than Season 2!”

His line was met with booming cheers before one of the Spurs players began a classic ‘Ohhhh Ange Postecoglou’ chant.

At that point, the fans were more than happy to  join in, and it seems Postecoglou may well have earned himself a second chance with the achievement.

Reports have suggested Daniel Levy has sounded out potential replacements to become the new Tottenham boss, including Thomas Frank, Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola.

However, in what may be a similar situation to Manchester United with Erik ten Hag when he led the Red Devils to the FA Cup last season, there is now a much larger chance that Postecoglou remains in one final bid to win the fans back over.
