The Sun today issued a statistical breakdown of the best midfielders during the 2012-13 Premier League season, however rather than using the data to praise leader Mikel Arteta, the red top chose to flag up Michael Carrick instead.
The Sun posted data on six different categories – passes, passes per 90 minutes, successful passes, successful passes per 90 minutes, touches and touches per 90 minutes – and on each occasion Arteta topped the charts ahead of United’s Carrick.
Yet, despite having dug out the crucial numbers and put them neatly together in a graph, The Sun titled their piece “Carrick Key Role 2012-13.”
Why did they fudge the data? Is it because Arteta isn’t English?
