El Mundo Deportivo report this Wednesday morning that Everton are close to a real coup, at least for one season, the signing of Barcelona B striker Gerard Deulofeu.
The highly-rated attacker is being sent out on loan by Barcelona in order to gain first team experience and Deulofeu has chosen the Premier League as where he would like to play.
Liverpool and Spurs were thought to be interested but it appears Everton have won the race thanks to new boss Roberto Martinez.
Barcelona believe Martinez is the perfect manager to look after Deulofeu at Goodison Park and ensure he progresses in England.
Talks with Deulofeu’s agent and Barcelona are expected in the coming days before a deal is announced.
Deulofeu would be the second young Spaniard to sign for Everton after goalkeeper Joel Robles joined yesterday.
