Sweden 1/6 1/50 18/1
Italy 11/2 2/9 3/1
Argentina 16/1 10/3 5/1
South Africa 66/1 12/1 1/25

Sweden are one of the best teams at this tournament, never mind the strongest outfit in this group, hence why the Scandinavian side are such overwhelming favourites to take top spot.

The Blågult’s major tournament record over the last decade or so is imperious, reaching the World Cup semi-finals in 2011 and 2019, the Euro semis last summer, whilst claiming Olympic silver in both 2016 and 2021.

However, Sweden are still yet to win a major tournament since lifting the inaugural European Championships trophy aloft in 1984, but Peter Gerhardsson’s side are more than capable of changing that fact this year.

Below them, second spot is somewhat up for grabs, given that Italy, who are overwhelming favourites to take that position, are far from an impenetrable force.

Le Azzurre did reach the quarter-finals of the most-recent World Cup, their best run since ‘91, but were very underwhelming at last summer’s Euros, yielding just one point, notably smashed 5-1 by France.

The question is though, can either of the two non-European teams challenge Milena Bertolini’s team for second spot?

South Africa meantime made their debut four summers ago, but lost all three matches, conceding eight goals, with Banyana Banyana aiming to get off the mark against la Albiceleste on 28 July in Dunedin.

In short, Italy are likely to second second spot and, if they do, they’ll run into USA in the round of 16, which is where le Azzurre’s run would come to an end.

Predicted: 1st: Sweden. 2nd: Italy. 3rd: Argentina. 4th: South Africa.
