Tottenham eye Southampton youngster as they plot summer raid on the south coast outfit

Tottenham are chasing a summer deal for Southampton defender Tino Livramento, according to Football Insider.

Antonio Conte’s side are struggling in the wide areas, with Emerson Royal having failed to impress since his deadline day move from Barcelona in the summer transfer window of 2021.

A deal for Adama Traore to play as a wing-back was explored by the Lilywhites, and indeed seemed likely in January. However, they waited too long haggling over a fee and Barcelona swooped, taking the Spaniard away from Molineux and back to the Camp Nou.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Livramento has continued to impress since his move from Chelsea to Southampton, and has already earned rave reviews alongside fellow Cobham graduate Armando Broja.

And, as per Football Insider, the defender is ‘a leading target for recruitment chief Fabio Paratici and he is already making preliminary moves’ as the Italian looks to lay the groundwork for a summer addition in north London.

Any deal would cost a hefty sum of money, and make Southampton significant profit on the £5 million that they shelled out to bring the teenager to St Mary’s in 2021.

Chelsea an obstacle?

A Cobham graduate, Livramento may therefore be keen to wait and see if Chelsea activate their buy back clause on the young star, which is thought to come into effect in 2023 to the tune of £50 million. Should he wish to do so, Spurs could come up empty handed once more in their search for an answer to the club’s problems at wing-back.
