It is widely expected that Jude Bellingham will leave Borussia Dortmund next summer, in what will be one of the most anticipated transfers in world football, and Manchester United reportedly stand a very good chance of landing the Englishman in 12 months time.

The 19-year-old is one of the hottest commodities in Europe, having already amassed 98 appearances for Borussia Dortmund as well as racking up 15 caps for England, which he is expected to add to in November when the World Cup begins.

And, should he depart, he is expected to cause one of the biggest bidding wars in recent memory, with Real Madrid and Liverpool thought to be at the front of the queue but both Manchester sides and Chelsea also thought to be keen.

According to Sky Sports, however, the English sides will have an advantage, with Bellingham keen to return to his home country after three seasons abroad.

Manchester United, they add, have a ‘very good’ chance of landing the teenager, likely in part due to their deep pockets, with Bellingham likely to fetch a fee in excess of £80m.

The Red Devils were among those keen on the Englishman when he was leaving Birmingham City, only for Bellingham to opt for regular playing time in the Bundesliga, something that he has certainly been vindicated in choosing.

The Jewel in midfield

For whichever club he joins, Bellingham is likely to signal a midfield overhaul, with both Liverpool and Manchester United suffering with ageing midfields. Jurgen Klopp’s men are certainly worse off in this department, with James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago the wrong side of 30 years old and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita both approaching that mark and injury prone.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils will also have 3 midfielders over 30 come next summer, with Christian Eriksen and Casemiro to be joined by Fred.

Both sides will be desperate to add Bellingham to their ranks.
