Betting prediction: Watford 1-0 Norwich

A relegation pointer is set to take centre stage on Friday night at Vicarage Road as Watford and Norwich remain desperate to claw their way into some semblance of safety from the bottom three. Though Norwich compounded Everton’s woes this season with a recent win against the Toffees, they’ve been ravaged in midfield through injury.

Watford have their own selection woes to contend with but can still count on the majority of their key figures being available. A close win for Claudio Ranieri’s men could result.

Watford vs Norwich: Recommended bets

Result/Both Teams to Score: Watford/No (5/2) – Neither side can boast a brilliant campaign in 2021-22, but at the very least, Watford has proven more capable in front of goal this season while Norwich has only just recently cracked the 10-goal barrier. This could prove a difference-maker tomorrow.

Result/Total Goals: Watford/Under 2.5 (14/5) – Similarly to the first bet mentioned, this should end as a close result and Watford has the upper hand when you survey recent clashes between the pair. Watford has won five of the last six meetings between them, and though they ran rampant in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, two of the last three meetings were 1-0 affairs.

Watford vs Norwich: Match preview

Winless in their last seven Premier League fixtures, Watford is in desperate need of a result in front of the home support and could view their clash with Norwich as the perfect avenue to do so given their recent record against the Canaries.

The mercurial presence of Ismaïla Sarr is still absent for the Hornets which is undoubtedly a bit of a blow to their ability in the final third, but the continued availability of Emmanuel Dennis goes some distance in giving them a continued attacking threat. The same can be said for Joshua King as well as João Pedro. Three points would move the Hornets shockingly within striking distance of Everton.

After six straight losses in the league, Norwich finally got back to winning ways under Dean Smith after the former Aston Villa boss started life at Carrow Road with a 2-2-0 record when he replaced former manager Daniel Farke. Their result against Everton, who they sit just six points behind in the table, was a credible one despite the incredibly poor season for the Toffees.

But Norwich has been unable to remain consistent at any point in 2021-22, and a rash of key injuries in the centre of the park could leave them painfully exposed tomorrow as a result. Their lack of goals this season certainly does not help matters but a win on the road would mean they finally climb out of the bottom three.

Watford team news vs Norwich

Watford boss Claudio Ranieri looks set to be without up to eight in the first-team squad as they are set to host Norwich.

Ismaïla Sarr, Nicolas Nkoulou, Peter Etebo, and Kwadwo Baah are all out through injury while Adam Masina, William Troost-Ekong, and Imrân Louza remain on AFCON assignment. Danny Rose has once again got himself into trouble – this time at Watford – and looks to remain frozen out from selection.

Norwich team news vs Watford

Norwich headmaster Dean Smith has six injuries to contend with for a tricky away day in a relegation six-pointer at the bottom of the table.

The Canaries midfield has particularly been hit hard, with Billy Gilmour, Mathias Normann, and Lukas Rupp all unfit. Defensive duo Christoph Zimmermann and Lukas Rupp are also unavailable through injury as is first-choice goalkeeper Tim Krul.
