Xavi provides Pedri & Pique injury updates ahead of Barcelona vs Cadiz

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has provided an injury update on his squad, ahead of the club's upcoming meeting with Cadiz.

A pair of fresh concerns amongst the personnel ranks at the Camp Nou were of course forthcoming over the course of the last couple of weeks.

First up came Gerard Pique, who was forced to limp out of the Blaugrana's Europa League quarter-final first-leg meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt owing to what was later revealed to be a left adductor problem.

Speaking in his latest press conference on Sunday, Xavi was therefore inevitably drawn on his veteran defender's wellbeing.

And the Spanish tactician went on to explain:

"Piqué's injury? It’s not an injury as much it is the discomfort he’s been experiencing lately. There is nothing to worry about."

Next up came the latest on midfielder Pedri.

Spanish starlet Pedri, in the midst of a stellar spell of recent form, of course set alarm bells ringing across the Catalan capital this past Thursday, in departing Barca's return clash versus Eintracht with a hamstring injury.

An ensuing update on the situation since confirmed that the 19-year-old is, in turn, set for a spell on the sidelines, with Xavi having admitted that Pedri is 'going through a tough time' as a result:

"Pedri's injury? Without a doubt, he’s going through a tough time now. He’s been doing really well during the season. The most important thing is for him is to recover from his injury, but what happened is part of the sport."

Squad for Cadiz announced

Neither Pique nor Pedri have therefore been called up for Barcelona's next outing, set to take place on Monday evening.

The Blaugrana will welcome relegation-battling Cadiz to the Camp Nou eyeing a bounce-back result, after being ousted from the Europa League in embarrassing fashion during the week.

The full squad of players set to be at the disposal of Xavi for the clash is showcased below:
