Xavi names the aspect of their game Barcelona must improve

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has been speaking to the press ahead of his side’s next outing.

When doing so, the Spaniard would outline which aspect of the game the Blaugrana need to improve upon.

According to Xavi, Barcelona must keep more clean sheets: "Conceding too many goals? We have to improve in this aspect, we must keep more clean sheets.”

A quick look at Barcelona’s recent results showcases exactly why Xavi is keen for his side to improve defensively.

La Blaugrana have not kept a single clean sheet in their last five outings across all competitions, last managing a shut-out versus Alaves all the way back on the 23rd of January.

Elsewhere in his pre-Athletic Club press conference, Xavi stated that he has been surprised by the improvement in January arrival Adama Traore’s decision making:

“Adama surprised me with his decision-making, which has improved recently.”

Barcelona vs Athletic Bilbao

Barcelona are now set to face off with Athletic Club on Sunday evening.

The Blaugrana head into the weekend’s action sitting 4th in La Liga. And whilst they are level on points with Atletico Madrid, Barca do have a game in hand.

Athletic, though, will be no pushovers, as they sit 8th in the Spanish top-flight at present, and boast a very solid defensive record.

They have conceded just 21 goals in 25 league outings this term, with only Real Madrid and Sevilla in possession of better records at the back.
