Wolves full-back Marcal is set to depart Molineux in the summer, heading to Brazilian side Botafogo on a free transfer.
The Brazilian defender, now 33 years old, is out of contract with the midlands side this summer, and has not yet begun conversations about renewing his deal with Bruno Lage’s side. He joined Wolves from Lyon in the summer of 2020, and due to injury problems to Jonny Otto, Marcal has managed to turn out 16 times in the Premier League this season.
That is already an improvement on his first season, where he made 13 appearances. However, he has never managed to stake a claim to be the first choice fullback ahead of Rayan Ait Nouri.

Now, however, his exit has been all but confirmed by Brazilian outlet Globo.ge, who report that a deal with Brazilian side Botafogo is close for when his contract runs out with Wolves.
‘The parties have not yet signed the contract, but it is a matter of time for him to play for Bota from the middle of the year onwards’, the reliable media site claims.

Wolves aiming for European tour?
With 8 games left to play this season, Wolves sit one place off a place in Europe next season.
They are almost guaranteed to finish no lower than 8th, currently a full 10 points clear of Aston Villa in 9th spot, but any higher may prove a bridge too far for the midlands side.
