A remarkable statistic, highlighting the struggles of Arsenal star William Saliba during the club’s meeting with Brentford, has come to the fore late on Saturday.

Saliba, of course, was back in action this afternoon.

Afforded his latest starting berth by Mikel Arteta, the Frenchman joined Gabriel Magalhaes at the heart of the Arsenal backline, amid efforts to bounce back from a pair of successive defeats across all competitions.

En route to a disappointing eventual 1-1 stalemate with Brentford, however, Saliba, for the 2nd week in succession, looked some way off his best.

A split second late to what felt like almost every challenge, the gifted young defender, in truth, never got to grips with the movement of the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Ivan Toney.

And, as alluded to above, Saliba’s woes on Saturday have since been aptly summed up by something of a head-turning stat.

This marks the most such duels attempted without a single positive outcome by any player in a Premier League match across the season to date.
